PROGRAMMER/ANALYST:

 

The Programmer Analyst is responsible for providing leadership in the implementation of insurance solutions and is key in providing technical leadership throughout the product lifecycle. The Programmer Analyst leads the analysis, design, development, testing, deployment and support effort for the policy administration system and third party interfaces to the system.

Responsibilities:

*         Analyze business requirements and use cases

*         Ensure architectural consistency and coherence between technical and business processes by developing high-level and detailed design documents

*         Identify existing architecture weaknesses and opportunities for process reengineering

*         Develop the application forms, rules, rates and user interface utilizing a rules based configuration tool and Java

*         Design and develop system interfaces with other internal and third party products

*         Unit test, system test, performance tune and debug the system by understanding the business requirements and process

*         Analyze and develop solutions for functional and performance issues

*         Provide leadership in the estimation process

*         Conduct technical risk assessment through using experience, analysis, prototyping and research and recommend mitigation strategies

*         Conduct configuration and code reviews with internal and vendor-supplied project resources

*         Provide knowledge transfer and mentor other team members

*         Work closely with the Project Manager to assess and manage risk, to maintain proper resource levels and to identify and escalate issues

 

Requirements:

            Education

            College degree or equivalent work experience

 

            Skills

*         Excellent written and oral communication skills

*         Proven analytical and problem

 

Looking for a motivated and results-oriented individual to become part of a Portal development team. The Portal provides physicians and other medical personnel access to patient information via the web. As a key member of the team this individual will design and develop moderately complex _javascript_, CSS, HTML web pages, Java-based applications, as well as modify and maintain the software. Primary focus of this position is to produce high-quality web-based Enterprise Java applications. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

·                                 Develop, maintain, and support production applications using _javascript_, CSS, HTML, Java/J2EE, and WebLogic technologies.

·                                 Perform senior programming assignments for diverse and complex project tasks in a Unix environment.

·                                 Develop software independently as well as under direction from development team leads.

·                                 Maintain and debug existing application code.

·                                 Generate design specifications, and code to conform to specifications.

·                                 Work with project manager to define work breakdown and provides effort estimates for tasks.

·                                 Participate in design and code reviews.

SKILLS:

·                                 Candidate must be a mid-level engineer capable of working independently and in teams, and effectively prioritizing tasks and responsibilities.

·                                 Proven design, debugging, and programming skills using _javascript_, CSS, XML, HTML, Java and J2EE technologies.

·                                 Experience in development and administration of WebLogic 8.1 (9.0 a plus) application server and portal technologies.

·                                 Demonstrated aptitude for learning new technologies.

·                                 Competent in developing accurate estimates and risk assessments.

·                                 Strong object design orientation.

·                                 Demonstrated ability to document design and coding decisions.

 

JOB PURPOSE/SUMMARY:

Plans, conducts, and coordinates programming application activities and supports vendor supplied and in-house systems.

 

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

         Gathers and documents requirements by working with Management, users, and technical resources.  Coordinates the requirements approval process with Management, technical writing, and users.

         Writes business applications computer software that contains logical and mathematical solutions to business problems or questions.

         Develops statements of problems, designs systems and programs, and writes programs in an MS SQL Server/Pegasystems PRPC environment for a solution.

         Modifies and tests programs in development environment for release to production.

         Coordinates with Quality Control in final resolution of issues and production release of programs.

         Applies knowledge of computer hardware and software, subject matter to be programmed in business applications, information processing techniques used, and information gathered from system users to develop software and support systems.

         Corrects program errors, prepares operating instructions, compiles documentation of program development, and analyzes system capabilities to resolve questions of program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques, and controls.

         Supports vendor supplied and in-house applications by troubleshooting issues reported in a development, test, or production environment.

         Responds promptly to clients with solutions or planned course of action.
