Thread-topic: Embedded Pentaho and report based user level security

All,

We are implementing the open source version of Pentaho BI suite in our environment for ETL and reporting.   We are currently hosting existing web apps using Tomcat 5.5.  We have successfully configured Pentaho to run as a separate web app under our existing Tomcat instance.  This will allow us to do SSO between the applications.  However, we want to implement user level security on a report by report basis.  Our final goal is to use an embedded version of Pentaho into our existing web app and provide security/look and feel via that application (we currently use Struts and migrating to MyFaces).  However, we can find no documentation on embedding the app.

So, my questions are:

  1. Has anyone had any experience in embedding Pentaho into an existing Tomcat web app?  If so, what was the process to do so?
  2. Does anyone know a way to provide user level security on a report by report basis in Pentaho without upgrading to the professional suite?

Thanks,
