What an interesting thread, even if it is potently volatile.  As I reach for my asbestos suit, let me postulate something contrary for the sake of being contrary.
 
I think that heavily structured coding processes appeal to the "Rule of Law" aspect of Republicans.  Where as, "Can't we all just get along," appeals to the inner hippie of Democrats.

Liberals like "big systems" with "safe" calling.  And a "room of people
to protect you from yourself" - architects.

Conservatives believe in individuals over systems.  "cowboys that break
the rules, and don't follow our systems that
were put in place to protect all coders".  If you don't follow the "big
system" you must be a cowboy.

Dynamic languages put a burden on the developers to "do the right
thing".   Is that "big system, government will watch out for you" or
"you are a capable individual, do the right thing?
