And I would say that if you are forced into considering this kind of
implementation detail, your framework does not let you express things on a
sufficiently abstract level.  It's like making the decision of whether to
hoist a calculation out of a loop.  Didn't compilers take care of that for us
in the '70s?

Not that I immediately know of any frameworks that would readily let me do
this...
