Actually, I spoke to my wife about it just now and she reminded me that we
have friends in from out of town that evening, so that's not going to work
for me. I'd say we could try January but we've got baby #3 due on Jan

The squeezebox itself uses an open source server called "slimserver" which
is implemented in perl. So while not Java, it's still a pretty neat
system:

As Brian mentioned, there's a client/emulator that is in Java as well. And
in fact you can install the server and then run the soft client to play
with the system and see what you think.
Anyways, sorry for the confusion on my end!
