I also have some links I intended to share last night, but forgot. So
I'll post them here where you can click directly to the listed sites.
* Ruby on Rails main site: http://www.rubyonrails.org/show/HomePage
(make sure you check out the setup movie at
http://media.nextangle.com/rails/rails_setup.mov)
* David Heinemeier Hannson's blog: http://www.loudthinking.com/
Sites Built with Rails:
* BaseCamp: http://www.basecamphq.com/.
-- The original site from which came rails. Note that rails
was used to develop the basecamp service, not the marketing pages
describing basecamp.
* Ruby RCRchive: http://rcrchive.net/main/index.
-- This site was developed in a couple of days by David Black
after
hearing about Rails at this year's ruby conference.
* StoryCards: http://onestepback.org:3030 (my rails app)
-- My exploration of rails implementing an XP like planning
program.
Tracks projects, iterations and stories.
I wanted to mention testing support in Rails last night, but it slipped
my mind. In rails it is easy to setup a tests for both your models
(which is easy in most frameworks) and your controller (which is often
not so easy). You can find a writeup (PDF format) on testing in Rails
at http://swimshark.ca/rails/testing_tutorial.pdf.
Thanks to everyone last night for listening.
