I currently use aoindustries.com for one site and have had mixed results.  
They have many nice features and excellent speed, but hardly any tech 
support.  The last 3 emails that I sent were never even answered.

If you're OK with a server that's not completely reliable, I recommend using 
Lunarpages.com with the Java add-on.  That runs about $10/month, but has no 
SSH.

If you must have everything top-notch, you may want to go with a dedicated 
server from 1and1.com and set everything up yourself.  You can get one there 
for just $49/month.
