I wish they would go "Professional Open-Source" like JBoss.
 
- Quit writing code
- Focus on standards
- Revenue from certification of software
- Revenue from extensive training

Some guesses...

Best case: Sun will realize that Dell and IBM won the hardware war,
they focus on developing software for their Linux desktop, and they
decide Java will be in integral cog in the wheel.

Worst case: Sun's credit rating is at junk status, and at the rate
they're hemorrhaging money, they will run out of cash on-hand in five
or six quarters.  Microsoft offers to keep them afloat by buying Java
and StarOffice.  Sun agrees, concentrating on building Sun Fires.
Microsoft promises updates RSN. Java and StarOffice get shelved
indefinitely.

Of course, I predicted flying cars by the '80s back in 1927. We did
get The Cars and Flock Of Seagulls...
