Summary: Under minimal supervision, maintains and
modifies existing application programs and writes new programs of high
complexity and scope. Defines technical requirements to solve moderately
complex business problems. Prepares detailed technical specifications for other
programmers. Designs, programs, implements, maintains, and supports end-user
systems. Performs efficient and effective analysis and complete task level
activities independently, which may include development of recommendations, process
design changes, system specifications, and business analysis cases from the
analysis performed. Will contribute to the definition and maintenance of
development standards and methodologies. Mentors junior staff. Demonstrates
technical and thought leadership. Manages own tasks and priorities, meets
commitments and is accountable for performance and actions. Effectively
multi-tasks on multiple assignments and deliverables. Takes initiative to
develop technical and professional skills.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Prepares components of assignments for review and
production implementation. To include program comparisons, detailed test
results, documentation, rerun/restart procedures, and other pertinent
information.
- Uses coding techniques with thought to efficiency
and ease of maintenance.
- Effectively utilizes development tools in primary
applications and/or platforms.
- Contributes to on-going evolution of custom
development platform architecture and coding standards
- Develops programs outside primary application
subject matter area.
- Working knowledge of database platform.
- Supports, adheres to, and advocates for the
current applications development standards and methodologies.
- Provides on-call support on normal rotations as
well as on-call support for own projects.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or
Business Information Systems desired or equivalent work experience.
·
Experience with paired-programming, test-driven
development, other agile or extreme programming methods preferred
·
Demonstrated experience as technical lead for
project or other initiative
·
5 years experience desired in object oriented
programming/J2EE including Java, JSP,
servlets, Custom tags, EJB 3.0, Struts, other M-V-C frameworks, JDBC,
other data integration frameworks.
·
Development experience across multiple
application server platforms required. (Websphere, JBoss, Apache etc.)
·
Must know T-SQL, HTML, XML, _javascript_ and ASP
·
Experience with Java in SAP Net Weaver stack a
plus
·
Must be experienced with Stored procedures, DTS
packages, linked servers (ODBC, JDBC drivers) in MS SQL 2000 and 2005
environments
·
Required Websphere and JBoss configuration
experience
·
Knowledge of Web Services Standards ((SOAP, XML, WSDL,
UDDI)
·
Experience with Integration with third party
vendor sites using different technologies e.g. cXML, OCI etc
·
Experience with Subversion or other common
versioning system
·
Skill in converting specifications and
procedures of moderate complexity into application and program solutions.
·
Communicates well both orally and in writing.
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office, Visio and Project
required.
