Senior Software Engineer/Developer:

In this role you will be involved in the analysis, design, development, and deployment of business applications. You will help translate business requirements into projects plans, defining the scope & objectives, prepare detailed functional specifications, and develop/deliver technical solutions. You will be involved in supporting all phases of project completion, including coordinating efforts with cross-functional groups.

Key responsibilities include:

Complies with architecture standards

Participates in application level architecture

Develops original and creative technical solutions to on-going development efforts

Performs independent and complex technical and functional analysis for multiple projects supporting several initiatives

Designs applications or subsystems on major projects and for/in multiple platforms

Participates in architectural design review

Develops applications for multiple projects supporting several divisional initiatives

Supports and performs all phases of testing leading to implementation

Assists in the planning and conducting of user acceptance testing

Responsible for supporting implementation of moderate-scope projects or major initiatives

Responsible for post-installation testing of any problems

Develops clear and concise documents of moderately complex scope

Develops comprehensive documentation for multiple applications supporting several corporate initiatives

Provides application support for appropriate platform

May serve as on-call resource to support the organization’s service and escalation model

Establishes project plans for projects of moderate scope

Works on multiple projects concurrently

Establishes on-time and on-budget project goals

Plans and coordinates project schedules and may make project assignments

Maintains status of project and monitors activities of team members

Initiates discussions with users or external groups to resolve issues

Works directly with the user community for project definition

Education and Experience:

4+ years experience

Exposure to institutional retirement business and its related products is a plus

Skills and Knowledge:

Strong Java skills

JDBC

XML

CVS or other source control

Relational database familiarity (SQL)

Solid understanding of development processes

Scripting language

UNIX is a plus

Messaging Middleware experience is a plus

Struts, J2EE, Spring, Hibernate, C, Ruby is a plus

Handle multiple projects concurrently in a fast paced environment

Strong communication skills

Strong analysis and problem solving skills

Be a strong team player
